twenty something days until we go home.
Alaska, here we come!!

I don't know what happened. It was probably the 24 degree weather this morning, but I am all of a sudden really looking forward to getting to Alaska.....

AK Factoids:

*In 1867 United States Secretary of State William H. Seward offered Russia $7,200,000, or two cents per acre, for Alaska.

*Alaska accounts for 25% of the oil produced in the United States.

*Prudhoe Bay, on the northern Alaskan coast, is North America's largest oil field.

*The state of Rhode Island could fit into Alaska 425 times. Alaska is 1/5 the size of the entire United States.

*17 of the 20 highest peaks in the United States are located in Alaska.

*Alaska's name is based on the Eskimo word Alakshak meaning great lands or peninsula.

and what are you guys doing for the holidays?? Do tell.... Posted by Picasa

You forgot one big factoid. Not only is Alaska the BIGGEST state in the union...not TEXAS...but if you divided Alaska in half, Texas would then be the THIRD largest state in the union.

Also-The rise and fall of the tide along the vast shoreline of Alaska creates enough MUD to cover the entire state of Texas, two feet deep.
