a priority re-set

I am going through some stuff in the basement.
I have LOTS of stuff.
I am feeling overwhelmed again by how much "stuff" I have.
It's my own fault because I keep buying it.
So I have to stop that.

In an effort to get rid of the "Stuff" (both literally and figuratively), I am going to be giving away a lot of it. So here's the 1st thing that will go.
I have purchased LOTS of acrylic stamp sets.
I have used maybe two of them once.
Sad.
Over-indulgent.
And it's gotta stop.

So I am will give away my "stuff" to you guys.
But you can't get something for nothing.....
You gotta comment, tell me something fun and true.
Maybe something you've bought that you wish you hadn't.

So COMMENT, folks....
the purging shall begin........

ETA: I'll draw one of the names tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon. I'll have one of my kiddos draw the name! They love joining in the fun!

I've never used these types of stamps but have always wanted to try! I can relate to the need to purge... but it is so hard! How have you got yourself motivated?
I also would love to hear the truths you found on worry! Can a mom not worry? I really love your comment that God is in charge of the big stuff and you are in charge of the socks. I can really relate to that!

Hi, I'm a collector too!! I go by the premise that one man's trash is another man's treasure and so I can justify a lot of wonderful yard sale and flea market items with that!! I'd love to have your stamps to add to my collection of "treasurers". I too will be purging...what a great idea to run a contest to give away your "treasures"!!

I love using acrylic stamps. It is so much easier to see where you are placing the stamps with the transparent part of these stamps.

Suzanne, I'm in one of your yahoo groups. If you would like, check out my blog at http://appletonreads.blogspot.com

Where do I sign up for the free stuff? Smile! One can never have enough stuff, tell my husband that, he calls all my scrapping and stamping stuff JUNK.
Happy Blogging!

What fun...the things I wish I hadn't bought are my 36C bras before I had my second...I now need Ds in everything! Sigh...there they sit all pretty, unused (and in some cases brand new) since my last baby!

Hi Suzanne, I'm in your CSS yahoo group. I wanted to let you know that the "use it up" card challenge you had really motivated me. I rummaged through my totes and got out all sorts of ribbon, flowers, brads, and tools that I hadn't used in a while to make a card. Anyways, I went to this blog and tried to find your snail address or even an email address to send the card to and I couldn't find it. Then I came down with a cold and by the time I was back online I realized that the deadline had passed. So, anyways, I wanted you to know that even though no one sent you a card, I would have!! Thanks! Cheryl Kelly-Van Domelen

Who me? I would never have purchased something that I haven't used yet. Ya right! I think its part of the addiction. I bought the Silent Setter and it might be silent when I use it but I'm not...I'm always saying ouch. It takes too much pressure to work it when I have shoulder problems. So I take my frustrations on the silent setter purchase by using the old hammer. But that's only one of my unused purchases. I'll save the rest for another time. lol

By the way, I'm new to acrylic stamps and so far I love them.

Free acrylic stamps my favorite! Just love to be able to see exactly where I am stamping. My hubby only wishes I would purge! My horrible addiction is all over the house but I did let him build an addition onto the garage for his junk.... I praise you for your efforts but I'm sure it won't last, thats only an empty spot for the next "oh I gotta have" LOL LOL

Something I bought and wish I hadn't....Definately Beauti Control. They had a special that for $99 you became a consultant and after attending a training class you got all the supplies. I now have all that stuff lying around and I only use a little bit of it. What a waste that was.

Hey Suzanne! Believe it or not I have not used any acrylic stamps. I too love to buy! Most of the time I shouldn't LOL I recently purchased a "Bitty Book" from a company and I was very disappointed. I'm sure I will figure out a use for it....some day. Or maybe I should follow in your footsteps...start purging and start some give aways. Keep encouraging us!

I think we all buy stuff we don't need! My problem is I buy the wrong things and then wish I would have gotten something else! My latest silly purchase? This was a few months ago..... I found the most fabulous pair of super cute boots on sale for a steal of a deal. My husband says to me, "you have got to be kidding me" The reason he said this is because at the time I was on crutches with a broken foot. I literally tripped in the grass and broke it. So as I am looking at these great boots with my DH not to happy. He also says "you can't even try them both on" No worry for me a 7.5 is always a perfect fit for me! I make my purchase and day dream of how cute they will look when I can wear them! So after my cast is off and I get the seal of approval from my DR. that I am fine. The day comes that I want to wear those fantastic boots I bought. I put them on, and guess what? In my hurry to get this great deal one boot is a 7.5 and the other is a 8.5. I think my husband is still laughing about it. Note to self....always check both shoes! I will never hear the end of that one! Thanks for sharing with us! Christine

This is a true story about why my kids got new toothbrushes yesterday.

My kids have been VERY sick for the last 5 or 6 days. VERY, VERY sick. So I decided that I'd sanitize their toothbrushes. B/c the dish washer was recently unloaded, I thought I'd just boil them for a minute to get the germies out. I put a saucepan on the stove to boil some water and had my DD bring down their toothbrushes. Of course 3 kids have 5 or 6 toothbrushes b/c one is never enough. The water was boiling, I put the brushes in the water.

I went upstairs and cleaned both bedrooms, folded a bunch of laundry...came out of my room to hang up some clothes in DD's room...and my 3 year old was coming up the stairs telling me that he was hungry.

Well, I smelled this burning smell and raced down stairs to see that he had gotten into....

Only to find....

I had forgotten about the toothbrushes. There was no water left in the saucepan. The brushes were totally melted...flat, no brustles...most of the plastic was black...though there are 2 spots of pink and blue.

So, I put the ruined saucepan on the balcony and opened all the windows and doors on the the main floor of the house to get rid of the cloud of vaporized plastic that was hanging about. Later, I took the kids to the store where they got to pick out a brand new toothbrush!

What I am really grateful about this story...is that I was lost in cleaning the house...and not busy in my stamping station or talking on the phone or browsing the internet!

I know how to purge the kids' rooms...but stamps in my house are definitely used and loved! Send them over here!

These stamps look like fun! I have bought and sold and bought a xyron. I had to have it, realized I didn't really need it, sold it, then had to have it again, bought it again and rarely use it. Go figure! :-)

Okay, something "fun and true". Today I bought my first acrylic block! Oh, I don't have any unmounted stamps to use with it! Okay, so Hobby Lobby has a 50% off their clear blocks & stamps but the stamps didn't jump out at me soo I just bought a clear block, "just in case!" ;D

Gosh there have been many things I wish I hadnt boughten..lacy underwear I will never beable to get into..lol I fall victim to the latest gadgets when it comes to cardmaking so I have really stopped doing that....well for now anyway.

I recently bought a bunch of clear stamps and I love the fact that they take up so little space.

Something true? Hmmmm. . .I bought $50 worth of the Mega Million Lottery tickets thinking I could actually win. I really believed it. Well, it didn't happen. I didn't even win a $1.

Right now the Mega Millions is at $400+ million. . .imagine how many rubber stamps I could buy. I don't know if anyone won yet. . .we'll find out tomorrow. . I hope not. . .I still believe I can win if given just one more chance. . .:)

I did the same thing -- I am not commenting to get free stuff though free is always good -- I had about 40 stampin up sets and just let 20 of them go on ebay -- I am moving more towards acrylic stamps since they take up less room than the wood mounted ones but I also just got rid of a binder full of vinyl mounted stamps LOL -- I am a mess :)

Ooooooo, I love acrylics! The thing I bought and wish I hadn't would have to be the Springlet Eyelet Setter and Hole Punch. I use my Crop-a-Dile all the time and the other one just sits on the shelf collecting dust....

I've been feeling the same way...I have too much of everything!! In the grand scheme of things it's all so unnecessary! :-)

I'm big on buying clothes and shoes that I never use or wear and then insisting that I can't get rid of them because I'll use them "sometime."

Lately, I've gone through the house and tried to get rid of all that "stuff" that is never used. Purging is a good feeling!

Never used acrylic stamps so I'm interested in trying some out...

Thanks for your post, I enjoyed reading your blog today, it was a blessing! And hope your little boy is feeling better soon...

i should never have bought my first stamp...or the second one...or the 400th one... If I had not have bought that first one, then I wouldn't be the state I'm in now.

what a fantastic stamp set! I could certainly help you out... I would love to have this for my very own! ;)

I hope your kids feel better soon. There's nothing worse than a sick child.
Well, the last stupid thing I bought was a pair of boots. Not such a bad purchase you may say. Well, I have very small feet and can buy children's boots. They were really cute. I wore them out one day in my little town, and ran into 4 other little girls with the same boots. Never to be worn again those boots, well, maybe somewhere far far away.

Great blog candy! Love acrylic stamps. I've definitely bought lots of stuff that I don't need. One of my biggest problems is buying duplicate stamps and/or paper... it happens often. Sad, isn't it...

I think that's good you can 'let go' of something. In general, I try not to get too attached to possessions..

I am new to stamping - after my first SU party - I *HAD TO HAVE* a crimper. Good thing I bought it w/ a coupon at ACMoore, because I barely used it!
But recently I did use it for making one candy bar slider -- it actually look pretty good w/ the ends crimped! Yay - get to crimp again!
Ok so now I've used that thing twice :)

I am so glad that I am not the only one to buy a "must have" and then never opened it. I always hear that he who dies with the most stuff wins... Right???

I know all about to much "stuff" as I am a pen paler as well as scrapbooking and card maker and I have TONS of paper, people laugh at me when I buy more paper. I'd love to win and use the stamps...look like real nice ones.

You are a very generous person. I really like this set of stamps but realise you would not want to post to me overseas - way Down Under in Australia.

Ohhh this is sooooo my case as well. What don't I buy that we "don't" need...lol. My most recent is a sewing machine for doing cards est. I bought one, thought I'll never use this gave it away, saw it on sale aain and bought another...still sitting new on my shelf. The word sale is like a magnet! I love these stamps...and would you believe I have no acrylic stamps (yup, crazy hey). Ohhh, my 9 yr old does most of my draws too, she loves it...I bet your daughter does too!

Personally whenever I start to worry about something that is in the future, I remember that verse of Scripture. I can't think of exactly where it is but it goes something like this: don't worry about tomorrow because it today has enough trouble of its own.

Christian Mothers have to believe that they raise or have raised their children the best that they can. They are in God's hands and He will never let them go. They are not only our children but also children of God.

I am just getting into stamping. We have started a "Craft Day" at our church once a month. The ladies have an on-going table that makes cards to give away to different outreaches each month. It is there that I have been exposed to some wonderful stamping projects. I can't believe I have missed out all these years!!

:) Thanks for the incentive to comment!!
