diving in....

I almost called this post "Amazing Providence of God" because that's how I feel.
Over the past year, after Adam started public school kindergarten, I felt pulled. I had wanted to keep him at home. To homeschool him, as he had been for a while. But his father and I agreed that Adam needed some socialization.

I spent many times, praying, hoping and waiting for God to show me what was the right decision for Adam, for our Family. Well, we are thinking much clearer and have decided, as a family, that Adam will be homeschooled for 1st Grade, perhaps beyond. We'll evaluate Micaela and possible add her in after we work out the bumps...

This will change the dynamics of my household, but one I will embrace willingly.
It will change how I conduct business.
It will change everything......and I am so excited about it!

The curriculum has been purchased and we'll be working over the summer months to transform the dining room to a classroom....It means so much to me to share this with you guys. We're happy about this. I am not so naive that I don't think it'll be an adjustment, but God is preparing me, and my child, for great things. I just have to leave my heart open to receive Him.

Congratulations!

May THIS be the year, THE time, and THE program!

My sister considers this to be a valuable resource (*she works at a Christian School). Maybe it will give you some ideas, too!

Again, congratulations.

You know your little boy is going to be light years ahead of most publiclicly schooled children. You are lucky to have the time and the smarts to be able to home school. I would do it myself, if my life were different. Do your best, and make Adam proud of you when he gets older and is able to comprehend what a sacrifice you're making for him.

Oh! I'm so glad I saw this post. I'm going to check out the curriculum you're using...what add ons are you using and what are you doing about OT/PT/ST?

This topic came up on an FX mailing list yesterday and it's something I've been wanting to try with our little Monkey (who is 4 and currently at the public preschool on an IEP.)

There is some discussion of setting up a mailing list or a message board for families who are homeschooling their kids with FX...I think it would be super helpful.

IMO socialization is way over-rated. Homeschool children in today's world are more socialized than most public and private schooled children. Most area's offer so many things for homeschool kids.
